Baccalaureate

The Baccalaureate is a two-year cycle (from 16 to 18) in which the personal and intellectual maturity of students is consolidated. The ultimate goal of the stage is to provide a solid human formation to meet the college and professional vocation.

The school aims students discover the value and meaning of things and life as a whole. Thus, the educational proposal should encourage the student to perceive what has to do what he does at school, with his personal life. This is the real source of motivation for the study and the key to educational success.

The Baccalaureate of Abat Oliba is a bet for the maturation of the personality of young people, and in this sense seeks both a rigorous working method as an emotional support and proper moral at the age of students.

Nowadays not only university life is complex, but also the adult world is very unstable and fragile. In this regard it is essential personal preparation to face the difficulties of life in general and the university in particular. To make this possible, our Baccalaureate contains the following elements:

Activities

  • Lecture: school regularly organizes conferences on current topics taught by our own professors. In addition, and depending on the interest of students, each course specific organizes lectures on various topics.
  • CINEFORUM: a proposal from school or students propose the screening and subsequent review of some films throughout the course.
  • Sports: the school participates in school championships organized by the C.E.E.B.
  • Magazine: quarterly edited the Journal of AbatOliba Schools, Middle Earth. It is a privileged instrument to involve families in the life of the center.
  • Language school and summer courses: we impart specific English classes throughout the course for students to prepare, depending on the level of each stage and staff, examinations for certificates of Cambridge, KET, PET, FIRST and ADVANCED. In addition, in collaboration with various specialized institutions, offer stays abroad during summers to deepen learning English.
  • Sumer activities:
    • University Research Campus Abat Oliba 20 to June 30 for students in 4th ESO and Baccalaureate.
  • Togethers: each course has a specific proposal of coexistence once every year.

Volunteering: regularly invite students to carry out a voluntary activity, accompanied by a teacher. So they can learn the value of commitment and meaning of free, essential aspects of personal training.

Confirmation and mass: students who wish may prepare and receive the sacrament of Confirmation at school, and attend the fortnightly mass in the school chapel.

Baccalaureate Structure

Baccalaureate studies are presented by subjects, divided into two parts: a common part and diversified part. Each school prepares its discretion, the different possibilities for the choice of students, offering blocks of subjects mode and study options (what we call itineraries).

THE COMMON PART

The common part contributes primarily to general Baccalaureate and training function is the same for all students regardless of their chosen mode.

The School Our school includes, in curricular matters determined by law, a weekly hour of each of the official languages and a half each week dedicated to tracking students tutorial.

Diversified structure

THE DIVERSIFIED PART

It is the student who chooses the mode and provides more specialized, preparing and directing it towards further studies or training to certain professional activities. This choice should be done to start the Bachelor and involves pursue a particular group of subjects (called mode).

Each student must take a minimum of 6 subjects modality along the two courses. The curriculum of the diversified part will be completed with two hours per week in the first and four in the second, an elective.

Modalities and Itineraries from school

The school offers all types of Bachillerato: Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science and Technology. In this way, we open the doors for any university study and also to all Higher Level Training Cycles.

Another important feature of our school is that all itineraries school proposes to study a second foreign language.
