The Institution

Abat Oliba–Loreto School has a long educational tradition in Barcelona.

It was founded in 1845 with the name of Nuestra Señora de Loreto, and in more than one hundred and fifty years has educated thousands of alumni maintaining the principles of Christianism values since the very first moment.

Nowadays it belongs to the Asociación Católica de Propagandistas (ACdP) with some other educational centres. This association was founded in 1908 by Jesuit Father Ángel Ayala. Cardinal Herrera Oria was its first president and from the beginning he has devoted himself entirely to the instruction of laity who must be prepared to work in public life.

Educate means teaching someone how to live. Therefore, education represents the introduction to the sense of life.

As the family, the school aims students discover the value and meaning of things and life as a whole. Thus, the educational proposal should encourage the student to perceive what has to do what he does at school with his personal life.

This is the real source of motivation for the study and the key to educational success. The relationship of trust and authority between students and teachers creates a climate that allows for true education.
