Languages Project

Students work on various subjects throughout their schooling in Spanish, Catalan and English and from 5th grade Primary students a second foreign language is introduced.

Aware of the current need for students to be competent in as many languages as possible, our school is committed to a multilingual model from the earliest stages. A model that guarantees the vast majority of students that, once they finish their school years, they will be able to communicate without difficulty in at least 4 languages.

Learning English is not limited just to the specific language class. As with Spanish and Catalan, English is integrated into other subjects (Physical Education, Home Economics…). In this way, students are able not only to speak but also to think in different languages, since they become accustomed to using the language on a daily basis in very different contexts and situations.

Early Childhood Education

In the Early Childhood stage, students carry out an immersion process in three languages, which are Spanish, Catalan and English. English is integrated into the school day naturally: it is part of mealtime, the songs they learn, the stories they tell, the games they play…

Primary and Secondary

In the Primary and Secondary school stages, the way of working in English is by focusing on all the skills that the language includes (oral, written, reading and grammar) through different methodologies: Total Physical Response (TPR), Lotta Lara and Whole Brain Teaching , WBT (which is a technique of Classroom Management method).

TPR focuses on responding verbally and physically to new learning; Lotta’s goal is to reinforce students’ oral fluency and grammar by reading books or texts. WBT, as its name indicates, is used in the classroom to keep all parts of the student’s brain busy in the different activities that are proposed.

From 5th grade onwards, students choose a second foreign language – French or German – which they will study until the end of their school year.

Upon finishing their studies at school, a large percentage of our students have the level corresponding to the B2 or C1 qualification.

Characteristics

Without textbooks

Spanish and Catalan are worked throughout the grades without using textbooks. Starting from literary texts and diverse readings, we delve deeper into lexicon, grammar, comprehension, writing, syntax...

In a participatory attitude of the teacher and the students in the classroom.

Four groups of English

In the case of foreign languages, there are a minimum of four groups of English. Their learning is reinforced by subjects such as Physical Education and Home Economics

Language Group Divisions

The second foreign language is reinforced in the stage with the group dividing and choosing French or German, as well as with the introduction of Italian.
