Pre School

"Learning to discover"

Pre School stage consists of two cycles:

1.

First Cycle

From 0 to 3 years old.

2.

Second Cycle

From 3 to 6 years old.

The two cycles are closely linked and we strive to maintain a relationship of coherence and continuity, providing students with educational contexts that broaden, diversify and supplement.

During this stage we provide our students with the maximum number of experiences to help them develop the skills that will enable them to function and be competent in today's world.

Pre school 1

From 0 to 3 years old.

In the first cycle of Pre School, daily life is the backbone of the activities.

  • We try to make an activity, such as snack or break time, educational and provide children with the possibility of acquiring new skills or abilities because we believe that everything that happens around children from the time they arrive at school until they leave is important for their development.
  • We try to take care of all the details so that the children feel good at school. For a child to learn, it is essential that he/she is happy and that he/she lives in a climate of trust that provides security. When children feel loved and cared for, they begin to be ready to learn, exploring, experimenting, listening and observing their surroundings. Therefore, the first and most important thing is that children are well cared for and that they acquire the most important habits corresponding to their age: autonomy, hygiene, sleep and nutrition.
  • Children are curious by nature, and from a very early age they begin to explore their environment, starting with the objects they find nearby and the reactions that, often involuntarily, they provoke in the adults around them. They are very curious about everything and explore everything they can get their hands on.
  • This curiosity is the engine that drives them forward and that we cannot fail to take advantage of. That is why we try to create environments in which they can experiment and test their full potential to discover their surroundings. Children's relationship with knowledge depends on how their curiosity is treated from the beginning, their desire to explore, to discover attributes and relationships, to know...

Second Cycle (3-6 years)

In the second cycle of Pre School, we continue to place great importance on daily habits and routines, but as the children are older and more autonomous, we can dedicate more time to more academic activities.

  • The main objective of the second cycle is to help students acquire the basic skills that will enable them to learn and develop independently in the future. These capabilities are as follows:
  • Learning to be and act in an increasingly autonomous way.
  • Learning to think and communicate.
  • Learning to discover and take initiative.
  • Learning to live together and inhabit the world.
  • We know that motivation is the most powerful engine when it comes to learning, that is why we try to take advantage of all the activities of the day to propose challenges to our students, which make them think and propose possible solutions to the problems they encounter, previously thought by their teachers. So an activity such as hanging the backpack on the hanger, or handing out the diaries becomes a reading exercise in which the child has to find a written name, or knowing how many children there are in the class if there are two sick children becomes a mathematical problem they have to solve.
  • At the school we attach great importance to language development because we know that a good communicative competence is the basis for learning anything else. That is why we spend a lot of time working on oral expression and comprehension, reading and writing from an early age. Immersed in our linguistic plan and closely linked to the children's daily lives is English. Students start listening to this language on a daily basis from Ll-1, and we progressively increase the number of hours until reaching P5.
